Let's Protect Our Beach Life!

Do you feel like the current council is not listening to your concerns? Thank you for stopping by and allowing me to introduce myself. I’m Bruce Wouters, and I am running for Jax Beach City Council, At Large Seat 1. I’m asking for your help to bring real change to our community.

Our dedicated Police Chief recently asked, “What do we want our downtown to be?” This raises an even broader question: What do we want all of Jax Beach to be?

A rapidly growing beach town like Daytona or Miami? Or a place with the charm and community feel of Neptune or Atlantic Beach? I am firmly for the latter!

As a long-time resident of Jax Beach, I care deeply about our community and am committed to preserving its small-town vibe. I am not a career politician with a long list of resume fillers. Instead, I am a dedicated member of our community with a genuine passion for making a difference.

I spent 17 years teaching in local public schools, including 8 years at Fletcher High School. During my time at Fletcher, I had the honor of sponsoring the State Champion Mock Trial Team, created by my late friend, Ed Lange (I was trained as an attorney).

Now, I often substitute teach at local beaches elementary schools. I have been a regular attendee and volunteer at Beaches Church for decades. Additionally, I have raised thousands of dollars for the Jax Humane Society, driven by my love for animals

My campaign is built on the principles of caring, listening, and acting on your concerns. Together, we can shape the future of Jax Beach into a place that maintains its unique charm and sense of community. I am asking for your support to make this vision a reality.

MY MOTIVATION TO SERVE

  • Witnessing the unfortunate dismissal and mistreatment of the Volunteer Life Saving Corps, a cherished local tradition.

  • Discovering a proposed Height Amendment that may exacerbate congestion and crime issues in our community.

  • Concerns raised over rezoning Adventure Landing, Beach marina & and Gonzales park for over 750 housing units, will increase congestion.

MY PRIORITIES

  • Significant Crime Reduction

  • Easing Traffic Congestion

  • Smart Development

  • More Transparency / Resident-Focused

  • Saving Our Schools

  • Environmental Protection and Sustainability

  • Affordable Housing Solutions

  • Support for Local Businesses

  • Enhanced Public Services

  • Promoting Community Events and Recreation

  • Higher pay for our police department

  • More parks and Events for the youth

Issue Positions

SAVE OUR SCHOOLS

San Pablo, Seabreeze and the Anchor Academy are classrooms I have served in. I have engaged the school board, the superintendent, and spoken at several School Board meetings. There was not one elected official at the last school board hearing at Terry Parker HS, but I was there and made our voice heard. I was Fletcher HS and Supported! I will continue to fight whether elected or not.Protect our Beach Life!

Penman Road

I am concerned about the effect medians will have on our local businesses, as well as the residents. I think the scope, as presented to date, is a lot for that area.

Urban Trails
I am concerned about the scope and overreach of the proposed urban trail system throughout the city. I think the city needs to listen more to the residents' concerns before moving forward.

First Street Layout

I believe First Street can be constructed, organized and protected better. It could be much more efficient  for foot, bike and vehicles.

Sunshine Park Parking

Proposition to add 52 parking spots to Sunshine Park. The park simply doesn't hold enough space for the current parking amount of  spots as well as neighborhood concerns for congestion.

Land Development Code Update

City plans to expand the resident zoning which will

increase density levels. In addition it will create more traffic congestion, and opportunities for short term rentals.

Trent promised to protect The Bank, I promise to protect the Beach Life. Go Jags!

What do you want Jax Beach to be?

I would love to hear from you and promise to listen with an open mind.

I am just an average guy with nothing to gain but a better community for us and the coming generations. I am asking for your support and vote!

Together, we can Protect Our Beach Life!
